Cavitar ArcLess Academy: Weld Education 2.0

Weld Education 2.0

Cavitar ArcLess Academy introduces a groundbreaking approach to teaching welding by leveraging advanced welding camera technology. With the powerful #ArcLessVision, students can experience a real-time, high-definition view of the welding process. This method allows them to observe every detail of a weld—its formation, defects, and corrective actions—all without needing to crowd around an instructor or rely solely on textbooks.

Better Learning, Faster Skills

Thanks to Cavitar welding camera, both an individual learner and an entire group of students can follow the details of welding in real time without the distracting arc. This makes the instruction more interactive and significantly improves the learning experience,” says Juha Kauhanen from Savo Vocational School.

“It’s much easier to visualize what a good weld looks like!” – Savo Vocational School student

“With these videos, we can finally see the full weld pool and surrounding area.”

“Much quicker to learn welding using this method.” – SASKY Mänttä Regional Vocational Centre

“Less trials and quicker learning when using welding camera in welding education.” – Savo Vocational School

A New Standard in Welding Training

The teacher can share clear views of the welding situation on screens, which enhances visualization, ergonomics management, and the understanding of safety practices. At the beginning of the learning process, the student is provided with ArcLess Academy’s study material so they can independently absorb the basic principles and theoretical foundation,” says Tatu Hirvonen from SASKY Mänttä Regional Vocational Centre.

In the practical phase, the learned theory is applied to real welding situations. The teacher demonstrates correct welding practices either in person or through welding videos, showing how the torch and filler material should be positioned, for example, in TIG welding. “It is difficult to show the proper control of the weld pool during welding to viewers without a welding camera. By using two welding cameras, it is possible to monitor the weld from both the surface and the root side simultaneously,” says Ville-Pekka Arasmo from EveryWeld Oy.

The Future of Welding

Recording videos makes detailed post-event examination possible: every movement, torch angle, and the formation of the weld pool can be evaluated step by step. This kind of interactive video learning reinforces the concept of a successful weld and highlights key points, such as avoiding incorrect torch angles and mastering filler material feeding techniques.

“The end result is a systematic and efficient learning process, where video-based guidance, real-time precision viewing, and iterative practice support the development of the welder’s professional skills” conclude Arasmo, Hirvonen, and Kauhanen.
