Flow Process Monitoring
Chemical and other process industries involve a wide range of challenges for visual flow process monitoring where CAVILUX laser lighting offers excellent solutions. Many of these processes, like the crystallization process in sugar manufacturing, takes place in pressurized tanks or pipelines.
In order to monitor the process stage, customers can take a sample and analyze it afterwards. Sometimes the sample taking means opening of the tank which means process interruption where the change in temperature and pressure can have negative effects to the process. Savings and process improvement can be obtained by continuous monitoring where the monitoring sensor is installed inside the process. LED light cannot be efficiently guided to a camera that is several meters inside a tank. Laser illumination, however, can be guided with fiber optics straight into the process with high efficiency. The high-power and short laser pulses enable the customers to obtain valuable information from their processes. Visualizing sensors have not been much used in chemical processes since the light guiding from traditional light sources to the process is very limited. Pulsed CAVILUX laser lighting gives unique opportunity here. The light is possible to conduct via light guide even to explosive environments because the light does not heat the object.
Other applications in flow process monitoring can be found for example in paper formation measurements where high-power back illumination is used. The customer can monitor the development of paper formation online.
