Reveal the Spatter in Additive Manufacturing with CMT Process

The video shows an ongoing CMT process. Used filler material is a Ni-based flux-cored Spherical Fused Tungsten Carbide (SFTC) wire.Footage was taken with a high-speed camera and CAVILUX laser illumination. The illumination is applied from front to see the details of the core process. Schlieren imaging reveals the spatter created by the process and allows tracing of it.

Video was taken in cooperation with LAL – Laser Application Laboratory of Tampere University (former Tampere University of Technology).

Used camera: Phantom v2640 provided by Citius Imaging Ltd.
